Long before CSR became a legal requirement, its ethos was ingrained in the very soul of the SK Group. Created in 1961, the SK Trust is committed to actions that support educational, medical and environmental causes. As a family, we consider ourselves fortunate to have access to education and believe that it is exceedingly important for everyone to have access to educational resources during their formative years. Similarly, we are also cognizant of the lack of access to proper medical facilities in rural areas of our country. Our efforts in the medical space aim towards providing more affordable and accessible treatments in remote locations.
Educational Initiatives
School of Business Management
The SK College of Business Management serves as the undergraduate school of business of Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University. Offering 3-year Bachelors Degree courses (BBA), the college is determined to provide students with a robust academic experience as well as exposure to non-academic activities. The school also admits 75 students annually to pursue a Master’s Degree in Business Management (MBA).
College of Science & Technology
One of three colleges within the premises, The SK College of Science and Technology is one of the newest educational institutes in the state of Gujarat. With sophisticated technology and modern classroom designs, it promises to be a well reputed and revered institute.
SK Convention Center
The SK Convention Center is part of three auditoriums of varying capacities constructed in Patan, Gujarat. Continuing the trend set by SK Balmandir (see above), The SK Convention Center is an attempt to encourage and uplift participation in the performing arts in Patan and other nearby regions.
SK Balmandir
Located in Patan, Gujarat, SK Balmandir is a kindergarten or pre-primary school that caters to nearly 300 students. The school provides a holistic education involving academics and co-curricular activities to students at a highly subsidized rate. In service for over three decades, SK Balmandir is the Group’s longest standing educational initiative.
Healthcare Initiatives
SK Blood Bank
Established in 2013 the SK Blood Bank was built on the recommendation of Late Dr. Charbar, who was a well-respected surgeon in Gujarat. It is one of three blood banks in the Gujarat that possesses the technology to separate plasma from blood.
Sumangal Medical Center
Located in the town of Manor (Dist. Palghar) along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway, the Sumangal Medical Center provides basic medical check-ups locals, free of cost. The Sumangal Medical Center has also tied up with local clinics and hospitals to bring patients to Mumbai for cataract surgeries.
SK Free Beds Initiative
The SK Trust sponsors a bed each at Mumbai’s Hindu Sabha Hospital (Ghatkopar) & Balabhai Nanavati Hospital (Vile Parle), thereby assisting patients who face financial barriers to receiving the required treatment.
SK Trust Diabetic Retinopathy Care Center
The SK Trust sponsored Retinopathy Center focuses on serving diabetes patients who develop this unique complication. Laser treatments among others are carried out at the center.
Remedial Teaching Classes
For over two decades, the SK Trust has set up and sponsored tutoring at a subsidized annual fee for students from poorer economic backgrounds. Here, students are tutored in important subjects such as Math, Science & English.
Environment Initiatives
Recognising the importance of constantly upgrading our practices to create an overall sustainable system, the SK Group’s Green initiative has facilitated the planting of several thousand trees across every facility in the country. Our efforts towards creating a zero-waste system is exemplified by the processes we have in place at our manufacturing plants.
We are constantly working towards uplifting our facilities in order to go beyond the environmental protection standards put forth by the Indian government and international standards. We not only pay close attention to the waste disposal systems at our facilities, but have also invested in the best sustainable practices such as the installation of solar panels, rain-water harvesting, wind turbines and more.
